Gastrointestinal diseases

In the diagnosis and treatment of disease, the gastrointestinal tract has increasingly come into focus. This is also underlined by Giulia Enders' book "Gut", which became a bestseller in record time.

Many people suffer from poor digestion, from constant bloating, from an "I can eat whatever I want, but I can hardly tolerate anything anymore" feeling, or from "irritable bowel syndrome".

These often complex symptoms — from constipation to diarrhoea — affect a steadily growing number of women and men, seniors and children, the athletic and the "desk-bound".

80 per cent of our immune system is located in the gut.

One thing is certain: in cases of persistent susceptibility to infections, allergic reactions and hypersensitivities — from hyperactivity through to depression — the cause may lie in the gut.

What matters to me here is that other factors are also excluded through conventional medical diagnostics. A stool analysis carried out in the laboratory can reveal imbalances among our "helpers in the gut" — the many physiological intestinal bacteria — or inflammation of the mucosa. One of my tasks is to strengthen your immune system and restore the balance in your gut.
